Introducing our new Hub member Tina

October 8, 2021

Hi, my name is Tina Reuter and I am delighted to join the Fast Forward team as Project Officer (Gambling Education Hub).

My background is in Community Learning and Development (CLD), which I studied at the University of Dundee. Most recently I worked for TCV (The Conservation Volunteers), coordinating a host of outdoor learning related community projects.

I bring with me a particular passion for youth work, having worked in the sector for over 4 years in various organisations across Dundee and Edinburgh.

My previous experience ranges from facilitating arts and crafts, social enterprise and even music education activities, to supporting young people through health and wellbeing programmes and one-to-one support.

I am excited to use my experience and understanding of the youth work sector to provide fellow youth workers and informal education professionals with useful, informative and engaging learning opportunities and resources regarding Gambling Education and Prevention.

I am also excited to join the Gambling Education Hub in facilitating free online webinars – hopefully my cat Lewis won’t try to steal the show too often! You can find our training calendar here.

One of my previous roles was at RockSolid Dundee, where I established Dundee’s first Youthbank – a youth-led grant making scheme offering funding for young people’s projects.

Encouraging young people to take the lead, to participate in and have agency over the services provided to them are aspects of youth work I am particularly passionate about. I am delighted therefore that my new role will involve the coordination of the Gambling Education and Prevention Small Action Fund, an opportunity for young people to establish their very own gambling education projects and initiatives! Groups of young people aged 12-25 can apply for up to £500 to create, develop and complete their own local project promoting gambling education and prevention.

It sure is a strange time to join a new team in the midst of a global pandemic! That said, the Fast Forward staff team have given me the warmest welcome and made me feel right at home (which I literally am!). I am excited to e-meet our fellow partners and get to know the wider network, and can’t wait to get started!

If you would like to find out more about the Small Action Fund or to request a bespoke training webinar for your team of youth workers, just drop Tina an email: tina@fastforward.org.uk
