Meet our newest trustee – Gillian McNeil

January 31, 2024

Please join us in welcoming our newest board member, Gillian McNeil who joined us in August last year.

Gillian has a degree in English and History, as well as post graduate degree in Primary Education, and a master degree in Educational Leadership which includes Scotland’s Qualification for Headship (she is also toying with the idea of undertaking a doctorate!). She served as a teacher in Glasgow for 15 years, with 6 years of that time spent in the role of Depute Head Teacher. She now works at the University of Strathclyde teaching on Initial Teacher Education programmes, international teacher education programmes, and master courses in Educational Leadership.

Whilst working in school, Gillian was the Child Protection and Safeguarding Officer and served on the local authority’s Child and Young People Services Working Group. She now leads on the safeguarding modules for the Initial Teacher Education programme at the university. This is an area that she is particularly passionate about and looks forward to bringing her experience to the board.

Gillian is from Glasgow (the east end to be precise!) and has always lived and worked there. Gillian is delighted to join the Board at Fast Forward and in her spare time, is an international cheerleading judge and judges at large scale competitions across the UK and Europe.
